Parent Testimonials on my Creative Writing teaching :’)

I’m never satisfied with one way of teaching because kids don’t learn the same way – and as teachers everyone knows this. What hurts is when I hear my students/tutees talk about their classes with such disdain. So when their classes don’t turn out, I’m not following suit obviously. Bring on the fun – and my tech! 😀

The two components I’ve enjoyed teaching most then? Creative Writing and Literature. Two loves of my life.

CW/Composition Writing has to be a constant in their lives, so I’m always thinking about how to teach it and how they can improve. // On the other side, there’s Lit.
now that was fun cause I got the chance to read classic stories and then teach them!

It’s a very curious thing to create lesson plans and to teach it before my tutees go to school.
Why? They don’t go to the same school, they aren’t of the same grade, so what does that mean?
None of the books I teach are the same – I’m never that lucky to reuse my lessons (*not really grumbling*)
It obviously means I get to read more books 😀

Basically I’ve condensed what I would be teaching for months into a few weeks because the main thing is to make sure they understand. So far I’ve put videos, quizzes, dramatisations into my lessons – it’s such fun!

Because I’m tutoring my students get a second set of eyes on their work – they get graded by their school teachers. There in lies the stress as well, I suppose.

But when they do well there and bring it back to me, I feel triumphant too! My students who struggled were getting Cs or failing and in the final national exam they got an A! The priiiiide :’)

Now I do content development for CW & reading programmes for some start-ups, including my own!

But freelancing is tough.. and all this doesn’t pay the bills as much as I’d hope. Now I’m just trying my best to create content on Teachers Pay Teachers too. And perhaps this little blog of mine.

I’m trying.

Previously I was a journalist & worked at a local book publishers’. I’m a ministry-certified trainer in primary & secondary schools – I dabble in Broadcast Journalism, Video Production, Stop Motion, Drama, Coding & the list goes on~
